Zarinah’s experience as a scientist has led them to run a non-profit that aims to conduct social science ‘in the wild’. To this end, Zarinah managed a groundbreaking 22-bedroom experimental hotel in San Francisco, a unique establishment that went beyond conventional hospitality. This innovative space doubled as a social science-themed hotel, community hub, and research laboratory dedicated to citizen science. Within its walls, Dr. Agnew orchestrated cutting-edge social science experiments, exploring themes of trust, generosity, and strategies for addressing social isolation within naturalistic settings.
With a rich experience in architecture, Eric has worked to map out existing and aspirational governance structures, modes of production & sharing, technologies & tools that provision for these prefigurative explorations into new economic modes of domestic and urban life. Zarinah has consulted for many organisations on the transformative potential of various technologies and governance systems.
Eric & Zarinah have published and presented on their learnings on fractal modes of communalism for many years. This work in rooted in over a decade of experience engineering community spaces, building federated networks of sharing that bring those spaces into network dynamics, both local and global, analogue & digital, and documenting the emergent phenomena.
